July 29: Deny Yourself

If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself.
Matthew 16:24

Following Christ requires a radical transformation. Jesus, therefore, calls us to deny ourselves.

Secularism tells you to be yourself. New Age tells you to find yourself. Jesus tells you to deny yourself.

Let Christ take you deeper today. He wants to reveal things in your inner life that are inappropriate for a follower of Christ. Be honest. Be vulnerable. Be transparent. Be humble. Because Christ loves you, you do not need to fear His inspection.

If you are a follower of Christ, denying yourself comes with the territory.

Father God, today I declare the supremacy of Christ. I humble myself and deny myself, in Jesus’ Name.

This daily Christ-encountering, fire-starter is not intended to replace your daily Bible reading and prayer time, but rather to motivate you to spend extended time in His presence.
